We have been contacted by Google (owner of Fitbit) and advised of a potential battery issue with some Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 watches.
In January 2025, Google rolled out a firmware update to all Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 watches to mitigate the risk of the battery overheating and improve the stability of their batteries’ performance. Customers that did not manually update the firmware once notified it was available would have experienced a factory reset, with the new firmware automatically installing during the device setup process. For some watches, the firmware update impacted the battery capacity and charging performance. More info from Google
How to check if your product is affected
To check if your watch has been impacted by the firmware update, check your device with Google.
You can continue to use your watch, however, if the firmware update has impacted your watch you may be eligible for an appeasement from Google of a US$50 cash payment to your nominated account.
Please note:
- You must check if your smartphone has been impacted and register for an appeasement from Google before 21 January 2026.
- Any appeasement will be subject to Google’s Terms and Conditions and the appeasement value will be converted to $AUD from $USD and therefore may fluctuate in value depending on the exchange rate at the time of transaction.
